Chinese Scholar Garden 2017

Photographers

  • No environmental altering equipment (fog machines, bubble machines, etc)
  • No attaching anything to anywhere (No hanging things on walls, statues etc); if you need help with your set up, bring a helper
  • No wearing costumes at all; you must be in normal clothes, as must your helpers
  • If you want to both cosplay and photograph, you will need to buy a cosplay ticket and not a photographer ticket; however you will only be allowed to cosplay and photograph during your cosplay time slot.
  • Your tickets are good for the entire event, but only 8 photographers can be inside the garden at a time; however, there are areas around the garden you can also shoot.
  • There are tickets for just photographers and tickets for photographers with a helper. If there needs to be more photographer with helper tickets, please request once the current ones are sold out.
  • The ticket for 6am is until 10am (potentially 4 hours) due to the expectation that hardly any cosplayers will show up at 6am and start filtering in around 7 or 8. I will need to be there regardless, so feel free to come that early if you’d like.
  • Battery powered lighting equipment is allowed

Cosplayers

  • You will need to buy a ticket for a certain time slot; each time slot is 2 hours. You must leave when your time is over. (If you have the 11am-2pm slot, you will be let in at 11am and must leave by 2pm
  • You can buy two or three different time slots.
  • Even if you are 50/50 on attending this event, buy the ticket you want when it opens, cosplay tickets always sell out and there is always a wait list.
  • No live steel; convention prop rules apply. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE treat this space with kid gloves. If you want to swing around your prop, take pictures outside. Also be very aware what your prop is doing; let it no scratch anything.
  • Cosplayers cannot bring a plus one or a helper.

  • If you are late to your time slot, there is nothing that can be done; that is time you lost and cannot be made up later.

To All

  • Snug harbor (where the Chinese Gardens are) is huge and they have so many different gardens/areas; we are only allowed to shoot in the Chinese Garden and the immediate surrounding area. It is a completely different fee per section of Snug Harbor. No wandering too far; they might decide to also charge us for other places if people try to sneak in there. Trust me, we cannot afford it.
  • There will be a cottage that will be our ‘home base’; it will be an easy walk to and from the park; If you will be wearing difficult shoes I do recommend bringing some flats to get to and from with. Changing and makeup should be done there.
  • Pick up after yourselves; if you leave trash, let’s be courteous and clean up.
  • This venue is very strict in it’s rules, which is why we need to all cooperate!
  • In case of any mix ups, there will be a check in at the garden entrance to make sure the right tickets get in at the right times. The staff will check to make sure the rules have been followed. (Only one entrance/exit)
